Sam
43, Western Australia
Sam is a hands-on, practical guy, born and raised on a sheep farm. He’s been surrounded by animals his whole life and has never not had a dog by his side. Adopted as a baby, Sam is fiercely independent and always up for a challenge. At 17, he overcame his fear of heights by completing a free-fall skydiving course and going on to do four solo jumps. At 19, he travelled to the USA to work as a summer camp counsellor, before returning to Australia to work as a forestry firefighter during the 2002/03 Alpine fires in Victoria, where he earned a medal for his efforts. A family man, Sam is raising three children and currently homeschools them, while having spent 15 years running his own fencing business. Racing is in his blood. His dad was a go-kart racer and taught him to drive at eight. Sam has always loved cars and bikes and is also a keen boxer, baseball player and still enjoys rollerblading. He’s the guy you want on your team. If something breaks, he’ll pull it apart and figure out how to fix it. With seven years in the screen industry across stunts, driving, safety and production, he’s the kind of person who would be pretty handy in an apocalypse! He’s also a serious cinephile with 1,000+ DVDs, an 8mm collection and plenty of VHS. He loves classic black-and-white films, action, sci-fi, horror and westerns. He occasionally sings too, but only in private!
